Dear Kathy,
Buster was such a wonderful dog......a very special dog. He and I had such a
wonderful time doing herding and doing his obedience classes. He was a natural,
and very obedient to my commands and mood. He was good at everything he
attempted......easy to show, train, heck anything he tried he was good at. He
was a large dog, tough, and a no nonsense kind of dog. He was affectionate with
his family and loved his kids. He was sometimes standoffish with other men, but
that was ok.......because he was my best friend. I have to be honest with you.
When I got him I didn't quite know what I had. I really didn't like his
brownish color he was as a baby and I really wasn't sure if I wanted a male
dog.....I had horrible luck with males. When he was the last one left out of
his litter at your house I thought he might be the ugly duckling, but he had a
very calm personality and exuded a confidence that I had not seen in many dogs
of his age (12wks) so in my mind I took a chance. He proved to be everything I
wanted and more. For that first year I brought him to you every week to bathe
and groom and every time he was full of dirt. He did not know he was suppose to
be a pretty dog, with a gleaming, long flowing coat. He thought he was a farm
dog, meant to swim in every water bowl and dip his beard and soak up two
gallons of water at a time. One of our best times we had herding was in an
absolute down pore of rain. He was soaked to the bone, I was dripping in water
and guy our instructor was nice and dry in a poncho. The dirtier he got the
better he was doing at herding......not so nice when he came home and deposited
clumps of mud on the floor, but you could hose buster off in the driveway like
and old truck and he would just stand there until you were done with him.
Buster never stopped moving. He would run around my yard, your yard anywhere he
was, he was always on the move. I would invite him up on the couch and up on
the bed with me when Saturn wasn't around. That was the only time he ever
relaxed and took his pettings like a good dog. Saturn would ask if Buster was
up on the bed and I would play dumb and assure her that Buster was never on the
furniture because we did not allow that! I took that dog everywhere with me. To
pick up the kids, get Saturn from work, we would go to the park......he was
always excellent with voice control and never went looking for a fight with
other dogs. He enjoyed his trips to Grandma Kathy's where all the pretty girls
lived, but I could tell he was always happy to come home and see his kids.
Anyway, I wanted to thank you for allowing me to take Buster home and spend a
few wonderful........ and way too short few years with him. I just wanted you
to know that he truly meant a lot to me and I am grateful for the time we had
together.
~Marc Dean, Buster's Dad
